ABU DHABI, 12 July — A series of new roads are among new UAE infrastructure projects being undertaken at a cost of Dh1.9 billion, The National News reported.
They include a road linking Mleiha in Sharjah with Al Shuwaib in Abu Dhabi and another connecting Hatta in Dubai with Masfout in Ajman and on to Ras Al Khaimah.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, announced the initiatives on Monday.
Photographs of the launch showed him touring the areas with Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs. Planes soared overhead as they inspected the developments.
Sheikh Mohammed said the works were carried out on the orders of President Sheikh Khalifa.
“Work [on] the infrastructure in the UAE has not stopped since it was started by [The Founding Father Sheikh Zayed],” he said.
“The projects … aim to bring the regions closer and link the people.”
Sheikh Mohammed said more works were planned and work would never stop to improve the UAE’s infrastructure. — The National News
