BERLIN, 15 July – The Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tarik and the Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz held a private meeting in the Chancellery’s premises in the German capital Berlin on Thursday, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
According to ONA, Sultan Haitham was welcomed by Scholz and a number of German government officials and attended a luncheon hosted in his honour to mark his first official visit to Germany.
Sultan Haitham and Scholz discussed the growing bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed ways to upgrade the cooperation and partnership between Oman and Germany, to serve the interests of the two nations.
The two leaders exchanged views about a variety of issues of common concern amid big developments on regional and international scales.
The luncheon was attended by Gen Sultan Mohammed al Nuamani, Minister of the Royal Office, Sayyid Badr Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, Dr Hamad Said al Aufi, Head of the Private Office, Abdussalam Mohammed al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority, Salim Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, and Sayyid Dr Sultan Yaarub al Busaidi, Adviser at the Private Office.
The luncheon was also attended by Steffen Hebestreit, State Secretary, Dr Jörg Kukies, State Secretary, Janet Schoenberger, Head of the Private Office of the German Chancellor, and Thomas Schneider, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Sultanate of Oman, among other officials.
