 President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev set a task at a February meeting with National Sports Association President Islambek Salzhanov, highlighting that the large-scale event should open up opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses to promote tourism, folk crafts, and services

There will also be a fashion show will be held. Various samples of ethnic clothing, including the leader of this direction – Global Nomads, will be presented within the framework of the ethnic fashion festival.

Ethnoaul will host hunting competitions with hunting birds and exhibition performances in national types of wrestling. The hospitality and cordiality of the Kazakh people will be demonstrated by the festival of national cuisine. Master classes will be held here, each visitor will be able to take part in the preparation of food and drinks.

All the events planned by the organizers in Ethnoaul are aimed at achieving the main goal – popularization of cultural heritage, national values, promotion of their national brand – the richest history and culture of the people of Kazakhstan.

The 5th World Nomad Games will be held in Astana on 8-14 September 2024 under the motto “Uly Dala dubiri” meaning “Gathering in the Great Steppe”. The competitions with the participation of 4,000 athletes from more than 100 countries.

The event will feature 20 traditional competitive sports, including horse races, national wrestling, traditional intellectual games, martial arts competitions, traditional archery, national bird hunting, horseback riding and folk games.

The opening ceremony of the games is scheduled for Sept. 8 at the Astana Arena stadium, and will attract 4,000 athletes from 100 countries and 100,000 tourists are also expected to arrive.

The key venues include the Astana Arena stadium, Kazanat Hippodrome, the Ushkempirov Martial Arts Palace, the Alau Ice Palace, the Duman Complex, and the National Museum.

The idea of the games extends beyond the sports arena, according to Nurov. It includes a cultural program at the ethno village named the Universe of Nomads. Spanning 10 hectares near the Kazanat Hippodrome, it offers visitors an immersive journey into Kazakh culture and traditions and the heritage of participating nations. 

There are also plans to host an international scientific conference to discuss the traditions and culture of nomad peoples, the current state and development of national sports, and the dietary habits of nomads, both historically and in contemporary times. 

The World Nomad Games are a relatively recent phenomenon, yet they tap into the deep well of Central Asian nomadic culture that dates back millennia. Conceived to preserve and promote the nomadic way of life, these games showcase traditional sports, arts, and rituals that have been passed down through generations.
