During “MIHAS” 2023: MoU strengthens the global footprint of Malaysian technology

KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to further enhance and strengthen Malaysian tech companies’ (MTCs) global footprint.

MATRADE senior board member Datuk Hazimah Zainuddin said the MoU aimed to better facilitate the existing export-ready MTCs through concerted efforts in trade promotion activities and strengthen their global footprint.

“Following the MoU, MATRADE and MDEC will also partner together for coordination of Malaysia’s participation at Tokyo Game Show 2023 from Sept 21 to Sept 24, which would see the participation of 20 companies within the creative content, game development and publishing, animation outsourcing production as well as creative IP development,” she said at the MoU signing ceremony between MATRADE and MDEC on the sidelines of MATRADE’s International Sourcing Programme (INSP) here today.

The programme was held in conjunction with the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2023.

The MoU was signed by MATRADE chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul and MDEC CEO Mahadhir Aziz and witnessed by Hazimah.

Hazimah said it is critical to make Malaysia a digitally vibrant nation that includes helping industries “tech up” by accelerating tech adoption, spurring the next generation of tech innovation companies and developing business opportunities by leveraging new data sources as outlined in New Industrial Masterplan (NIMP) 2030 – Bernama
