ABU DHABI, 14 April — The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis, and Disasters Committee announced that the Emirate will intensify its COVID-19 mass screening campaign across various areas and districts, to curb the spread of Coronavirus.
The committee said test will be increased in Al Danah and Al Zahiyah areas in downtown Abu Dhabi, and in the suburbs of Bani Yas, Al Shamkha and Al Shawamekh.
Authorities called on the public and residents in those areas to cooperate with the health authorities to ensure effective PCR testing for COVID-19, and to comply with all preventive measures.
Abu Dhabi Emirate is testing thousands of people everyday in a mass daily testing, including a door-to-door testing drive that covers about 15,000 people per day.
Medical teams in Abu Dhabi work mostly at night, when more people at home to make it easier and more effective to do PCR tests, while police and medics travel across the emirate to identify COVID-19 carriers.
Medics knock on residents’ doors, register each person in the home and conduct the PCR tests, which take less than two minutes, and can identify COVID cases effectively and easily.
Up until Tuesday (13 April) the UAE recorded 2,022 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 487,697.
The Health Ministry announced 4 new deaths with 1,731 new recovered cases making the total number of recovered cases 471,906.
