KUALA LUMPUR, February 1 — Malaysia recorded 4,214 new COVID-19 cases, with 9 imported cases today (1 February), Ministry of Health reported. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 219,173.
Director-General of Health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that 4,280 patients recovered and were discharged today, making the total number of recovered cases 170,329 with a recovery rate of 77.7%.
10 new deaths were reported today, with COVID-19 death toll reaching 770, with a death rate of 0.4%.
Malaysia now has 48,074 active cases at hospitals and quarantine centres, with 316 patients in ICU units and 137 in severe situation under ventilator support.
The state of Selangor recorded the highest number of new cases with 1,362, followed by Johor with 1,068. Meanwhile the capital Kuala Lumpur recorded 702 new cases.
