His Excellency Ambassador Madyar added during a press conference held at the embassy in Abu Dhabi, on the occasion of the launch of the book 30 years of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Kazakhstan: “The path of Kazakhstan’s internal and external policy opened the door to expanding cooperation with the UAE, and the distinguished relations between the two countries contributed during this year In creating a fair Kazakhstan with a prosperous society and a more vibrant and competitive political system.
On economic and investment cooperation between the two countries, the ambassador indicated that the volume of trade exchange between January and October of this year reached $592 million, exports from Kazakhstan to the UAE amounted to $544.6 million, and imports amounted to $47.4 million, guided by the data of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the period 2005. -2021, which stated that the total direct investment flow from the UAE to Kazakhstan amounted to 2.9 billion US dollars, and from Kazakhstan to the UAE – more than 1 billion US dollars, and in the first half of 2022 the total direct investment flow from the UAE amounted to 128.7 million dollars.
HE Ambassador Madia expressed his conviction that his country’s multi-directional foreign policy will help solve many global crises and expand international cooperation, expecting that 2023 will be an important year for Kazakhstan, as parliamentary elections will be held during the first six months, while new political parties have already begun to emerge in the run-up to elections, which enhances political competition and pluralism, and for the first time in 18 years independent candidates will also be able to run in individual districts.

The ambassador enumerated some of the important events that took place in 2022 in Kazakhstan, most notably the national referendum in June, where constitutional reforms were carried out that brought new democratic values to the political system, including limited presidential powers, a strong parliament, an independent constitutional court, and the establishment of new political parties. , direct election of governors, and other important measures.
The ambassador added, “In November, our country held presidential elections under the new constitution, which means that all future heads of state, including the current president, His Excellency Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, will serve one seven-year term without the right to be re-elected. Transparency is an important milestone in the democratic development of Kazakhstan.
He explained: “While changing our internal political system, we did not forget our international commitments. In October, Astana hosted the sixth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia. A month before the summit, the Seventh Conference of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions was held. Pope Francis and His Eminence, Imam Al-Azhar, were among the participants, numbering more than 100 delegations from 50 countries, including 5 Emirati delegations. Pope Francis’ visit was the first by a head of the Catholic Church to Kazakhstan since Pope John Paul II in 2001, and during the same period we hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping, whose official visit to Kazakhstan was the first foreign trip since the Covid pandemic.
The ambassador added: “The path of Kazakhstan’s domestic and foreign policy has opened the door to expanding cooperation with the UAE, as on May 15, 2022, His Excellency Kasim Jomart Tokayev arrived in the UAE to offer condolences personally from the President of the State, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, members of the ruling family and the people of Emirates in the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. On September 19-20, 2022, the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, His Excellency Alikhan Smailov, to the UAE took place, while on November 3, 2022, the official visit of His Excellency Mukhtar Telberdi, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan to the UAE took place.
His Excellency the Ambassador added, “The world is facing the challenges posed by the current geopolitical and economic difficulties. Close cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UAE is absolutely necessary. Kazakhstan remains committed to developing relations with all countries and partners. As President Tokayev said during his inauguration after the recent presidential elections, “Kazakhstan It will continue to pursue a balanced and constructive foreign policy aimed at protecting national interests. The priority focus will be on issues of mutually beneficial cooperation and strategic partnership with neighboring countries – Russia, China and fraternal states of Central Asia, with partners in integration associations. We will do our best to develop multifaceted cooperation with the United States, the European Union, countries in Asia, the Middle East and the Caucasus, as well as with all interested countries.”
Regarding the book on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the UAE, Ambassador Madyar said: “It was prepared in close cooperation between the Archives, the National Library of the UAE and the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Abu Dhabi, where the ambitious goals of the two countries, similar aspirations and mutual respect transformed all these factors.” The Kazakh-Emirati relations are the most successful example of cooperation between the Central Asian region and the Middle East.
